Thanks to improved treatments, people with HIV/AIDS can expect to live long lives. There are 37,000 people living with HIV disease (PLWHA) in Illinois, of whom, nearly 50% are over the age of 40.

Illinois is ranked 6th among the 50 states in the number of new HIV diagnoses.
